The following rules and regulations are put in place at Storm Lake Cemetery to ensure that all visitors have the right to a peaceful enjoyment of time in reflection and memory of loved ones.
- No digging or work may be done on Cemetery grounds without the express written permission of the Storm Lake Cemetery Board.
- Religious ceremony and funeral displays are allowed to be left for a period of two weeks following the date of burial.
- Flags representing national, religious, or decorative entities or organizations are allowed to be displayed provided they do not exceed 6 inches by 12 inches in size and do not interfere with general maintenance of the cemetery grounds.
- Live trees, bushes, and plants (including flowers) are not permitted. Families may donate plantings to the Storm Lake Cemetery Board for planting within the Cemetery (see our gifts and donations page).
- Snowmobiles, ATVs, Golf Carts, and horses are not allowed on the Storm Lake Cemetery grounds unless they are part of the maintenance operations and/or allowed by special permit of the Storm Lake Cemetery Board
- Dogs are allowed on Cemetery grounds provided they are contained on a leash at all times and the owner cleans up after the pet. Any damage caused shall be the responsibility of the owner.
- The Storm Lake Cemetery Board is not responsible for or liable for loss of memorial decorations or other items left within the cemetery.
- The Storm Lake Cemetery shall have two cleanup days as follows: the second Monday of April annually, the second Monday of October annually. During the designated cleanup days all decorations permitted under the rules of the cemetery shall be removed by the cleanup date. Any items remaining following the cleanup date will be subject to removal by the Cemetery staff.
- All vehicles shall be driven on designated roads within the cemetery.
- All memorial stones, vases, and repairs must be done by a professional contractor. No homemade stones are allowed without written permission by the Storm Lake Cemetery Board.
- No glass containers are allowed as part of memorial displays or decorations.
- Christmas wreaths are allowed from November 15th to January 15th. Wreaths must be on hooks.
